This center, located at the top of the skull and which awakens from the age of 42 and 49, brings us psychological and spiritual maturity. It is in times of great difficulty or period of important choice that this chakra takes on its full extent. It is in the face of challenges, projects, and important decisions needing to be made that this center will provide us to open up to new perspectives with discernment.
According to many spiritual writings, it is said that this chakra connects us to the Divine, this chakra would be the meeting place between ourselves and a higher god. However, this is only possible on the condition that we do not open the door to interpretations. Here, we are talking about the Divine part within ourselves. The Divine part in us, allows us to analyze, think, reflect, as well as to perceive the path to be followed, thanks to the support provided by the other chakras that we have already discovered. It is, therefore, dangerous to want to develop this chakra without coherency with the others… To develop this center, one does not need to obscure the other centers, as for example, by banishing “sexual pleasure,” by obscuring our material needs for survival, or by refusing all material possessions, even the most basic. There too, the New-Age current of thought propagates erroneous beliefs: “far too Yin to be healthy.”
This chakra governs all of our intellectual intelligence, reasoning, and logical deductions. If this center is balanced, the individual seeks to understand the world by contemplating it, in advance, peacefully. One’s capacities for comprehension, adaptations, and decisions are fast and serene. A quiet force energetically radiates from people who manage their balance well. Life, in perpetual movement, is understood by those who know how to adapt their thoughts to the changing side of existence. Readiness characterizes those individuals who could be called “wise people.”
This center is connected to the epiphysis, a gland located at the top of the skull and which has the function of connecting us to our rhythms of life. Sleep as well as would be regulated by this gland which, at least if one believes in ancient writings, also reconnects us to the Absolute Unity of life.
When this center is unbalanced, the individual can become proud, rejecting any piece of advice other than his own. Individualism and selfishness will also come along. The kind of person can be lonely, with a strong rejection of humanity as a whole, thinking that it is better alone or even better than all the others. Arrogance and ego overdevelop by the presence of a large amount of Yang energy and an almost inexistent Yin energy.
Or on the contrary, if one lacks Yang energy and has too much Yin energy, he will be susceptible to all mental manipulations, overly welcoming the words and the needs of others. There will be a form of renunciation of one’s own existence which will, of course, be harmful to oneself.
This chakra reacts to the purple color, in all its nuances, even to pure white.
